Pousada TutabelTrancoso, Brazil

Opened in 2016, Pousada Tutabel is run by the same people as Pousada Literaria in Paraty so the owners have plenty of experience in running a top quality boutique hotel on the Brazilian coast.

Pousada Tutabel has 16 suites ranging from 40 to 80 square metres which are set in lush green gardens and Atlantic rainforest totalling almost 20 hectares, with a lovely shaded ocean front swimming pool, a spa with sauna and massage room and central relaxation area and restaurant. Just a simple wooden fence separates the hotel from the white sand of the secluded beach, stretching for over 500 meters in a large bay which is almost deserted.

The hotel is situated around 5 miles and a 15 minute drive from the central Quadrado of Trancoso, which is the large historic grassed square surrounded by brightly painted fishermen houses, which these days house some chic boutiques and attractive bars and restaurants. Trancoso was described in the The Spectator as ‘the best undiscovered beach town in Brazil’ and we would certainly agree that compared to places like Buzios and Paraty, it is a chic haven of peace with a chilled out atmosphere.

Pousada Tutabel is the place to go for some quiet ‘down time’ on the beach with occasional excursions to the sophisticated bars and restaurants in Trancoso itself. The hotel also owns a Private Nature Reserve totalling approximately 975 hectares located only a 30 minute car drive away, where they arrange nature walks followed by a picnic lunch.
