Get away from it all and relax on this beautiful, peaceful private island retreat.

Punta Faro is a charming but down-to-earth small resort on a private island just an hour and a half from Cartagena by speedboat. It is ideal for both families and for couples who want to kick-back and have a few days downtime on the beach. The resort has 45 rooms but we only recommend staying in a selection of these which are air-conditioned rooms, and have private balconies directly overlooking the sea.

The hotel is comfortable and the food is good, but it does not have the sophistication of some of the resorts in the Caribbean further north. There are three restaurants, two bars and plenty of hammocks spread around attractive gardens for lazy afternoons.

The island is small enough to kayak around and there is a lovely private beach offering great swimming and snorkelling opportunities as well as beach volleyball. If you fancy venturing further out into the sea you can dinghy sail and scuba dive, or go for a day trip on a small motor boat. On land you can hire a bike or play tennis.

Service at the Punta Faro is friendly and professional, and it makes a great escape after discovering the colonial treasures of Cartagena.
